Five Anteaters Earn All-Big West Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – Five UC Irvine men's volleyball players earned All-Big West honors, including first-team selections Hilir Henno, Maxim Grigoriev and Nolan Flexen.

Junior William D'Arcy garnered honorable mention accolades, while Micah Goss was a Big West All-Freshman team honoree.

Henno is in elite company as only the second Big West player to be named to the first team all four years, joining Hawaii's Pat Gasman (2018-21).

Henno leads the Big West and is second nationally in kills (4.44) and points (5.46) and is second nationally in aces with a .765 average. The outside hitter is also fifth in the Big West and 17th in the country in hitting percentage (.366) and eighth in the country in attack attempts (8.84). Against Big West opponents-only, the senior averaged 4.83 kills and 5.70 points. He is currently nine aces away from tying the NCAA all-time ace record. Henno was named AVCA National Player of the Week on Mar. 31 as well as Big West Offensive Player of the Week five times in 2025. He was the 2024 Big West and AVCA National Player of the Year.

Grigoriev earned his second consecutive first-team All-Big West selection. The middle blocker ranks fifth in the Big West in blocking average (.871) and is third in the Big West and ninth nationally in aces (.494). The junior had a career-high 12 total blocks against USC, second most in the country and tops the Big West this season. He recorded four or more blocks in eight matches and hit over .500 10 times this season, including a season-high .667 twice. Grigoriev was tabbed as the Big West Defensive Player of the Week Feb. 17 and was a pre-season All-Big West selection. He was the Big West Freshman of the Year in 2023. 

Flexen garners his first Big West selection after ranking seventh in the Big West in kills (3.12) and sixth in points (3.81). The outside hitter is 10th in hitting percentage among Big West players (.301) and 14th in blocks (0.77). For the season, the senior is averaging 1.10 digs and 0.28 aces. He was named AVCA National Player of the Week (Feb. 18) and Big West Offensive Player of the Week twice (Jan. 27, 2025 & Feb. 17, 2025). Flexen led UCI to a win over USC with a career-high 27 kills and 12 digs. His 27 kills are third most in the Big West this year.

D'Arcy collects his first Big West honor after ranking fourth in the Big West in hitting percentage with a .386 mark. He is averaging 2.15 kills and 1.07 digs overall, while averaging 3.00 kills and 3.43 points against Big West opponents-only. The opposite hit .692 (9-0-13) in the upset of No. 1 Long Beach State and had a career-high 21 kills in a win at UC Santa Barbara.  

Goss is one of the eight-member All-Freshman team. He ranks third in the Big West in blocks (1.01) and 12th in aces (0.30). Against Big West opponents-only, the middle blocker averaged 0.42 aces per set which was fourth. The freshman started every match for the Anteaters, recording three or more blocks in 15 matches. He posted a career-high 10 kills twice and a career-best nine total blocks versus BYU. Goss is the 12th Anteater to make the Big West All-Freshman team.

Fourth-ranked UC Irvine will face No. 9 CSUN tomorrow (Apr. 24) at 10:00 p.m. PT in Honolulu, HI.
