IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine celebrated senior day with a sweep of Cal Poly (25-23, 25-23, 25-11) at the Bren Events Center Saturday afternoon.
With the win, attention switches to Hawaii for the 9:00 p.m. match against Long Beach State. If Hawaii loses, UCI will tie the rainbow Wahine for sixth place and will qualify for the sixth spot in the Big West Championship which starts Wednesday (Nov.26) at the Walter Pyramid. The Anteaters, who are 13-17 overall and 8-10 in the Big West standings, advance due to winning the head-to-head tiebreaker, taking the lone meeting with Hawaii, 3-0 at home.

SET TWO
>Cal Poly started with an early 5-1 lead on three UCI errors
>UCI continued to battle, using a block by Miller and a kill by Duffey to keep it close, 9-12
>A kill by Gronemeyer, attack error by Cal Poly and a kill off the block by Triplett tied the score at 15 all
>A kill by Gronemeyer on the right side and a Cal Poly attack error gave UCI the 24-22 cushion

THIRD SET
>UCI exploded out of the break with a 8-1 lead, using kills from Duffey and Triplett and two more by Gronemeyer, a solo block by Bolden and three Mustang attack errors
