IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine celebrated senior day with a sweep of Cal Poly (25-23, 25-23, 25-11) at the Bren Events Center Saturday afternoon.

With the win, attention switches to Hawaii for the 9:00 p.m. match against Long Beach State. If Hawaii loses, UCI will tie the rainbow Wahine for sixth place and will qualify for the sixth spot in the Big West Championship which starts Wednesday (Nov.26) at the Walter Pyramid. The Anteaters, who are 13-17 overall and 8-10 in the Big West standings, advance due to winning the head-to-head tiebreaker, taking the lone meeting with Hawaii, 3-0 at home.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Outside hitter Madison Triplett led all players with 12 kills, hitting .310 (12-3-29). She recorded her third double-double with 11 digs
>Libero Campbell Jensen posted a match-best 17 digs
>Outside hitter Kendra Duffey put away eight kills and had 10 digs, three aces and a block assist
>Middle blocker Ally Bolden hit .417 with six kills and a block assist
>Elizabeth Miller locked down the net with five total blocks, including two solos. She also had two kills
>Opposite Ava Gronemeyer added five kills and two block assists
>Freshman Izzy Romero had eight digs to go with her important final ace
>The Anteaters held an advantage in hitting percentage (.167-.125), blocks (6-4), aces (6-2) and digs (62-61)
>The Mustangs (23-6, 14-3) were led by Chloe Leluge's 10 kills and two block assists   
 
FIRST SET
>UCI scored three in a row on consecutive kills by Ally Bolden and Kendra Duffey and a attack error by Cal Poly to take 8-5 lead
>CP would go on a 4-1 run to tie the set at 9-9
>A pair of Madison Triplett kills and a Duffey ace put UCI back in control, 12-9
>The Mustangs then scored five in a row on three kills and two Anteater attack errors, 14-12
>UCI trailed 14-16 before the Mustangs had two attack errors followed by an ace from Triplett to move the Anteaters in front 17-16
>UCI found themselves trailing again (19-21) then Elizabeth Miller took over with a solo block and then a block assist with Ava Gronemeyer to put the Anteaters up 22-21
>With the teams tied at 23-23, UCI used a Mustang miscue and a kill by Triplett to end the set 25-23

SET TWO
>Cal Poly started with an early 5-1 lead on three UCI errors
>UCI continued to battle, using a block by Miller and a kill by Duffey to keep it close, 9-12
>A kill by Gronemeyer, attack error by Cal Poly and a kill off the block by Triplett tied the score at 15 all
>A kill by Gronemeyer on the right side and a Cal Poly attack error gave UCI the 24-22 cushion
> Following a Mustang kill, Triplett went high off hands for the set winner, 25-23

THIRD SET
>UCI exploded out of the break with a 8-1 lead, using kills from Duffey and Triplett and two more by Gronemeyer, a solo block by Bolden and three Mustang attack errors
>Two kills and an ace brought Cal Poly closer, 7-12
>The Anteaters answered with a kill off the slide by Bolden, an ace in the back corner by Emma Napoleon and a two Cal Poly attacks that sailed wide, 16-7
>An ace by Duffey and two Triplett kills increased the lead to 22-9
>A Bolden kill put UCI at match-point then Izzy Romero had a ace to close it out, 25-11
