UC Irvine Loses Defensive Battle With UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. – UC Irvine and UC Davis combined for 155 digs, but the Aggie offensive was just a bit better in the end. UCD would beat UCI 3-1 (27-25, 18-25, 25-13, 25-21) at the University Credit Union Center Saturday afternoon.

UCI's 73 digs were a season-high, led by senior libero Campbell Jensen's season-best 30, just two shy of her career-high. Only UC Davis' Ximena Cordero Barr had more this season in the Big West with a match-high 35. Sophomore Madison Triplett returned to the lineup and totaled a career-high 17 digs to go with eight kills.

More defensive highlights came at the net with the Anteaters out-blocking UC Davis 15-6. The 15 blocks are tied for the fourth most in the Big West this season.

Graduate student Sydnee Rowe recorded a career-high eight block assists, while opposite Lois Hansen totaled a career-best seven block assists. Rowe was also good offensively, hitting .467 (7-0-15).
