
'Eaters Come up Short in Big West Fall Invite Semifinals

SANTA BARBARA, Calif – The UC Irvine men's tennis team's run in the main draw of the Big West Fall Invite came to an end in the semifinals Saturday at Arnhold Tennis Center.
In singles play, Fardanesh and UC Davis' Lucas Bollinger battled for a spot in tomorrow's championship match. Bollinger got out to a strong start before Fardanesh bounced back to force a third set where the Aggie held on for the 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 victory.
Fardanesh and Ruining Huang also came up just short in the semifinals of the doubles main draw, falling to Sean Kamyshev/Jovan Lubbe of Cal Poly, 8-6.
Four Anteaters were in action against Oregon at the San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic at USD's Skip & Hogan Tennis Center. Mason Bui and Greg Gamal started the day with a 6-3 win over Sam Olszarowski/Lachlan Robertson. Alexander Guajardo also had an impressive performance in singles, taking down Declan Galligan, 6-1, 6-3.
