Nicole Feliciano and
Campbell Jensen were each honored with a Big West weekly awards after a pair of dominant wins.
After UCI swept both Hawaii and Cal State Fullerton, Feliciano was named Big West Setter of the Week, while Jensen garnered the Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Feliciano guided the UCI offense to an impressive week of hitting. The Anteaters hit a season-high .317 (34-8-82) versus Hawaii with just eight errors in the match then helped UCI hit .282, which is tied for third highest mark of the season versus the Titans. Against Cal State Fullerton, she recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 39 set assists and 10 digs to go with three block assists and an ace. For the week, Feliciano averaged 11.0 set assists, 2.83 digs and 0.50 blocks per set.
Jensen averaged 5.67 digs over six sets last week, recording 17 digs in each match. The libero also had four set assists in UCI's fourth-ever win over Hawaii and two versus the Titans. Jensen and the Anteater defense limited Hawaii to a -.041 hitting percentage and CSUF to a .000 mark. Currently, the senior ranks fourth among active DI players in career digs with 1,741 and is now just 15 shy of moving into second all-time at UCI.
It is Feliciano's third Big West honor, earning Freshman of the Week twice in 2023. Jensen picks up her second career defensive honor and fifth recognition overall after being named Freshman of the Week three times in 2022.
UCI will tkae on UC San Diego (Oct. 31) and Long Beach State (Nov. 1) on the road this week.
