Contreras Leads Anteaters at Highlander Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Six Anteaters competed in the invite section of the Highlander Invitational women's 6K Saturday morning at UC Riverside's Agricultural Operations Course.
Senior Nicole Contreras led UC Irvine with a top-15 showing. Contreras clocked an 18-second personal-record 20:53.2 to place 12th out of 258 runners. It was UCI's third-fastest 6K of the season.
Sophomore Arden Keeton was next across the line for the 'Eaters in 58th (21:44.3). Junior Malia Leupold added a personal-best 22:29.1, while freshman Avery Hutchison crossed the finish line in 22:56.5. It was the first career 6K for both Keeton and Hutchison. Sophomore Breckyn Kornachuk added a lifetime-best 23:02.0, and junior Kaitlene Ofilan came in at 23:51.2 in her season debut.
UC Irvine will be back in action in two weeks at the Big West Championships in Honolulu on Friday, Oct. 31.
