IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine men's basketball has unveiled its non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Â
Fans will be able to preview the Anteaters before the official season kicks off as UCI will host Vanguard on Wednesday, Oct. 30 for an exhibition.
The Anteaters will open their regular-season slate inside the Bren Events Center against Chapman on Monday, Nov. 4 as the second game of the doubleheader with women's basketball. It is just the second time in three years where the two teams will meet in Irvine.
Â
UC Irvine starts their road action in Los Angeles at LMU (Nov. 8) before making their way out to Cedar Falls, IA for the first ever meeting with Northern Iowa (Nov. 10). The Panthers are projected to finish second in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) according to the Blue Ribbon Yearbook.
Â
On Saturday Nov. 16, the Anteaters host Pepperdine for the sixth-straight meeting between the two programs. The 2023 meeting occurred in Henderson, Nevada at the Ball Dawgs Classic where UCI defeated the Waves, 76-60.
Â
For the first time in 12 years, UCI will travel to Ogden, Utah to take on Weber State on Friday, Nov. 22. The Wildcats compiled a 20-win season in 2023-24 that included notable wins over then No. 23 Saint Mary's (61-57) and South Dakota State (75-73).
Â
UC Irvine will cross the international border to Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to participate in the Western Slam MTE. In the three-game stretch, the Anteaters are set to face Kennesaw State (Nov. 28), Kent State (Nov. 29), and Towson (Nov. 30). This will be the first meeting in program history with both the Owls and Tigers.
Â
A pit stop home for the start of conference action on Thursday Dec. 5 against Cal State Bakersfield as part of the Big West's Bold Week will be followed by four more road non-conference contests.
Â
The first stop will be a clash with Oregon State, a new West Coast Conference member, on Saturday, Dec. 14. The Anteaters and Beavers last faced off on Nov. 28, 1998, in Corvallis. UCI will head cross-country first stopping at Belmont (Dec. 19), where the Bruins are coming off their 14th consecutive 20-win campaign and held a 12-8 record in a competitive MVC year ago.
Â
UC Irvine returns to the Steel City on Dec. 21 to take on Duquesne who went on a historic run in 2023-24. The Dukes ran the table in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament, including a victory over nationally ranked Dayton, to earn their first conference championship since 1977. Duquesne advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, earning the programs first win in the NCAA championship since 1969, before dropping to Illinois.
Â
After the holiday break, UCI makes the quick trip over to Riverside for a meeting with California Baptist on Monday, Dec. 30 to close out the 2024 calendar year. The Anteaters will return home on Jan. 4, 2025 to host UC Riverside.
