BOULDER, Colo. – UC Irvine could not hold off host Colorado in five-set loss at the Buffs Invitational at the CU Events Center Friday evening.
UCI won two of the first three sets (25-21, 17-25, 25-19) before Colorado won the final two 25-20 and 15-13. The Buffs recorded six of their match-best 13 blocks in the fourth set to keep the match going. UCI hit just .077 (19-14-65) in the final two games.
UCI goes to 4-3 overall with all three losses coming in five sets. Colorado improves to 5-3 overall.

Hunter Riedl once again led UCI with 17 kills to go with a career-best six block assists.
