
Women's Tennis Adds Four Newcomers To 2024-25 Roster

IRVINE, Calif. – Head coach Elizabeth Ferris Smith announces the addition of four newcomers to the 2024-25 roster.
Bella Pitchford | Sophomore | Van Nuys, Calif. | IQ Academy Los Angeles | Utah
Pitchford transfers into the Anteater program from the University of Utah. A California native, the sophomore attended both Chaminade College Prep and the IQ Academy Los Angeles where she was an honor roll student every semester. In junior competition, Pitchford ranked as high as top-50 in southern California and top-300 in the nation in addition to playing in the National L1 Clay Courts.
"Super excited to start a new chapter of my college tennis career and create special bonds with new teammates. Can't wait to battle it out on the court alongside my teammates and be a part of something special," stated Pitchford.
Maily Huynh | Freshman | Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. | Palos Verdes HS
M. Huynh, a Rancho Palos Verdes native, played for Palos Verdes High School. The freshman had a distinguished career in the Bay League as a singles semifinalist (2023, 2024), individuals doubles champion (2023), and individuals doubles finalist (2022) to go along with her appearance in the CIF doubles individuals quarterfinals. Additionally, M. Huynh enters the program at a TennisRecruiting.net three-star rank.
"I am beyond excited to play tennis at the highest collegiate level at UCI, alongside my sister Haily, and amazing teammates. I can't wait to make lifelong memories, and I am so stoked for the next four years," remarked M. Huynh.

Y. Huynh, a TennisRecruiting.net four-star athlete, comes to Irvine from nearby Huntington Beach High School where she had a decorated career. In individual action, the incoming freshman is a three-time singles MVP, two-time league champion, and two-time CIF quarterfinalist. Y. Huynh is a four-time league champion, CIF quarterfinalist, CIF semi-finalist, and MVP is doubles play.
"I'm so excited to receive an opportunity to play tennis at a collegiate level and can't wait to meet all my teammates for the 24-25 season," exclaimed Y. Huynh.
Lindsay Kim | Freshman | Lafayette, Calif. | Acalanes HS
Kim hails from Lafayette where she attended Acalanes High School. She played at the No. 1 singles position and was named the MVP during her sophomore campaign. The freshman also contributed to a Northern California win on the Gar Glenney Cup. Kim comes in as a three-star athlete according to TennisRecruiting.net.
"I'm looking forward to this upcoming season, and I'm excited to grow as an athlete and make unforgettable memories with my teammates," exclaimed Kim.
