IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West has released its 2024-25 men's and women's basketball conference schedules.

The league will continue its true 20-game round robin format but with the addition of Bold Week from December 5-7. The early conference start eliminates three-game weeks and allows for consistent Thursday and Saturday games for the entirety of Big West action.

During Bold Week, the Anteater men and women are set to face Cal State Bakersfield before the first of their two byes of the season.
Both teams will announce their non-conference slate at a later date.

Big West action begins for UCI men's basketball on Thursday, Dec. 5, hosting the Roadrunners for their Big West opener. The 'Eaters hit the road for a trip up to Cal Poly on Jan. 2 to open 2025 and then return home for a Jan. 4 meeting with UC Riverside. UC Irvine is on the road for two-straight, starting with CSUN (Jan. 9) and then UC San Diego (Jan. 11).

UCI will also host Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 16, Cal Poly on Jan. 18, and Hawai'i on Jan. 25. The 'Eaters will play three straight at home in February including games against UC Davis (Feb. 1), UC San Diego (Feb. 8), and UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 13) before welcoming CSUN to the Bren Events Center on Feb. 20.
UC Irvine concludes the home portion of the conference slate with Black and Blue rival and reigning 2024 Big West Champions Long Beach State on March 1. UCI will travel to both UC Davis (March 6) and UC Santa Barbara (March 8) to close out the league schedule.
UC Irvine men's basketball defended their Big West regular-season championship title in 2023-24. The Anteater men are coming off a 12th-straight winning season and seventh Big West regular-season title; all under head coach
Russell Turner, the program's winningest coach, as he enters his 15th season at UC Irvine. The program went 24-10 for its ninth 20-win season under Turner, made its eighth NIT appearance, went a program first 13-0 inside the Bren Events Center, and defeated No. 16/20 ranked USC on the road.

After starting league play at Cal State Bakersfield on Dec. 5, the defending Big West women's basketball champion Anteaters will host Cal Poly in their conference home opener on Thursday, Jan. 2. The 'Eaters then make the trip to UC Riverside on Saturday, Jan. 4.

UC Irvine will be home for two the following week, welcoming CSUN (Jan. 9) and UC San Diego (Jan. 11) to the Bren Events Center. UCI is also set to host UC Riverside (Jan. 23) and Long Beach State (Jan. 30) in January.

February begins with three-straight road games, traveling to UC Davis (Feb. 1), UC San Diego (Feb. 8) and UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 13). The Anteaters are then home for three of the next four, entertaining Hawai'i (Feb. 15), CSUB (Feb. 22) and Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 27).

UCIÂ has three regular-season contests in March, making the short trek to LBSU (March 1), before hosting UC Davis (March 6) and UC Santa Barbara (March 8).
The Big West Championship returns to Henderson, Nevada, at Lee's Family Forum (formerly The Dollar Loan Center), March 12-15.
UC Irvine women's basketball won the 2023-24 Big West Championship and earned a No. 13 seed in the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance in 29 years. It was the Anteaters' third-straight postseason bid after making it to the WNIT in 2022 and 2023. UCI closed out the campaign with a 23-9 overall record, marking its third consecutive 20-win season. The 'Eaters finished the year ranked 23rd in the College Insider Women's Mid-Major Poll.Â
