IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine women's volleyball head coach
Ashlie Hain announced the signing of Jessie Bates to a National Letter of Intent.

"Jessie is a versatile athlete that is a complete volleyball player. She has overcome some adversity in her high school career and come out stronger for it," Hain said. "I am excited to have Jessie in the program because of what she brings as not only as an athlete, but as a person as well. She is focused, determined and a great teammate. There's so much Jessie can accomplish in her college career and I look forward to working with her these next four years.

Bates played both Indoor and Beach volleyball at Junipero Serra Catholic High School. The team captain helped the Lady Lions to the 2023 CIF DII Championship and was named DII Player of the Year. The setter earned All-Orange County first team honors as well as All-Trinity League, 2024 JSerra Female Athlete of the Year nominee,
Prep Volleyball 2024 Watchlist and a four-time scholar-athlete. She played club volleyball for TStreet (13U-15U/18U) and Coast Volleyball (17U) where she was recognized as Red Rock Rave 17U All-Tournament team. Bates was also tabbed all-league in beach in 2024.
