Andar Earns CSC Academic All-District Honors

IRVINE, Calif. - Junior Sameen Andar has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Academic All-District Team.

On the track, Andar qualified for the NCAA West First Round in the 10,000-meter run for the second year in a row and finished 22nd at the regional meet. At the Big West Championships, she earned all-conference honors with a third-place finish in the 10K.

Earlier in the year, the San Ramon, California, native clocked a personal-record 33:07.48 at the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 11). Her time ranks second in program history and was only .38 seconds shy of the 35-year-old school record. At the end of the season, Andar's mark stood as the best in The Big West, while ranking 12th in the West Region and 33rd in all of NCAA Division I.

In the fall, Andar earned her second career all-conference recognition in cross country with a ninth-place showing at the Big West Championships. She led the Anteaters in each of her four races.

Andar is a biological sciences major. She is a Big West and MPSF All-Academic selection, and served on the 2023-24 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) board as a Director of Inclusive Excellence.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA and be in the top-50 in the region in a single event (cross country, indoor or outdoor).
