McKenzie Closes out Season at NCAA West First Round

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Freshman Kailah McKenzie closed out the UC Irvine women's track and field team's 2024 campaign at the NCAA West First Round Saturday at John McDonnell Field.

McKenzie tied for 39th in the high jump. She cleared the opening bar of 1.66 meters (5-5.25) on her first attempt, but was unable to get past the next height.

McKenzie's NCAA appearance capped a remarkable collegiate debut season in which she was named the Big West Women's co-Freshman of the Year. She was UCI's first conference champion in the women's high jump since 2009, while she also made her way onto the podium in the long jump where she was third overall.

McKenzie already ranks third in school history in the high jump (1.77m) and fifth in the long jump (6.10m).
