DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team swept UC Davis, 4-0, in its Big West opener Wednesday at Marya Welch Tennis Center.

The Anteaters improved to 11-5 overall and are 1-0 in conference, while they handed the Aggies (10-6, 2-1 Big West) their first Big West loss of the season.

UCD took the early advantage in doubles with a win at No. 2.
Noah Zamora and
Rahul Dhokia then evened the playing field with a 6-3 victory over Lucas Bollinger/Max Fardanesh at the top of the lineup.
The deciding match came down to court three where
Matthew Sah and
Brandon Park secured the point in a tiebreaker as they prevailed over Sam De Vries/Eduardo Gonzalez, 7-6 (5).

UCI won three hard-fought singles matches to clinch its seventh-straight victory against UC Davis. At No. 4,
Rithvik Krishna came up short in the first set but was dominant in the next two as he defeated Fardanesh, 2-6, 6-0, 6-1.

Andy Nguyen then finished off De Vries, 7-5, 6-2, at the fifth position to give the 'Eaters a 3-0 lead.

The final four matches were all tightly contested as well, but Dhokia was able to close it out by upending Bollinger, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-3.

UC Irvine continues Big West play on Saturday, April 6, when it hosts Cal Poly at 12 p.m.
