UC Irvine Decathletes Continue To Shine At Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, LA VERNE, & LONG BEACH, Calif. – Decathletes continue to shine in day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational on the campus of Azusa Pacific.
 
Josh Farmer placed third overall in Group A in the decathlon behind a big personal record of 7,703 points in the second day of the meet.
 
Farmer will return to Oregon as an NCAA qualifier with his 55-point PR. The mark comes in as second best in program history replacing his 7,648-effort set back in 2021. The senior also finished second in the javelin with a new best of 178-10 then second in the 1500 with a 4:37.31 time.
 
Max Daniels finished atop the Group B standings with a 7,435 personal best, good for sixth in the program records. Daniels shattered his previous 110-meter hurdles standard with his 14.76 finish this afternoon.
 
Action continued at the Leopard Distance Carnival in La Verne where several athletes saw season bests.
 
Jacob Bustamente (11th, 14:28.29), Juan Chantaca (14th, 14:29.19), Juan Sanchez (20th, 14:38.48), and Lukas Amare (27th, 14:44.54) all placed top-30 in the 5000m. Additionally, Chantaca and Sanchez both recorded season highs in the event.
 
In the 3000m steeplechase, freshman Jimmy Markowicz reset his career best in the event with a time of 9:46.28.

Wrapping up day two of the field events at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Liam Miksic placed 13th in the javelin, recording a 215-04 mark in the event.
