IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine student-athletes were successful in the classroom following the 2024 Winter Quarter.
Following the Winter academic quarter, 129 student-athletes were honored on the Dean's List. To qualify for the Dean's List, individuals need 12 or more undergraduate graded units in a quarter with a GPA of 3.500 or better.
Women's cross country finished with the top GPA for a women's team for the second straight quarter with a 3.68 GPA. Men's soccer emerged with the highest GPA for a men's team with a 3.48 mark.
"Our women's team had an amazing winter quarter in the classroom," said distance coach
Casey Kear. "Despite a heavy indoor travel schedule and a busy start to the outdoor track and field season, they were able to achieve one of the best team GPAs in recent history. We are really proud of everything they do, both in the classroom and on the track!"
Â
"We are extremely proud of our student-athletes' achievements academically," remarked men's soccer head coach
Yossi Raz. "We are constantly striving to find balance in our lives and thus find success in everything we do. The team demonstrated its maturity, time management qualities, and how they prioritize education and growth… As I mentioned before, we are fortunate to work consistently with such an elite human being. This group set a high standards to maintain, and now it's time to work and duplicate our successful quarter in spring. I would like to extend congratulations to the rest of the athletic department for fantastic academic performance, especially praise Mari and the academic staff for all they do to support our teams."
Overall, all 18 UCI teams earned over a 3.0 GPA in the quarter.
