MARICOPA, Ariz. - The UC Irvine men's golf team had four holes to go in the second round when play was suspended due to lightning Monday at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic.
 
The Anteaters tied for 12th after the opening round at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. They combined for a 5-count-4 total of 286 (-2). No. 70 Grand Canyon held a three-stroke lead through 18 holes as it came in at 16-under 272.
 
Jin Nakao carded a first-round 67 (-5) to lead the 'Eaters in a tie for eighth. Nakao fired five birdies and had an eagle on the par-5, 575-yard third hole.
 
Jason Tang also came in below par at 1-under 71. He had four birdies and tied for 38th through 18.
 
Darien Zhao and Rei Harashima both finished at 1-over 73, while Joshua Lane, who is making his first tournament appearance since the Vanharte Orange County Collegiate Classic (Feb. 12-13), rounded out the lineup with a 6-over 78.
 
The second round will continue Tuesday at 7:15 a.m., with the final round to begin after its conclusion.
