IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team swept Weber State, 7-0, Saturday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The Anteaters improved to 7-4 overall and remained perfect at home where they are 6-0. The Wildcats dropped to 4-9 on the season.

The two sides played a tough doubles point with Weber State taking the early advantage after a 6-3 win at No. 1.

Andy Nguyen and
Hiroki Sakagawa brought the 'Eaters even with a 6-4 victory over Connor Kruger/William Zulch at No. 2.

All eyes then turned to court three where
Brandon Park and
Matthew Sah faced a 4-1 deficit against Tuan Minh/Matteo Savio. The UCI duo dug deep, coming all the way back to tie it up at 4-all. After the Wildcats took the next game, Park and Sah reeled off three-straight wins to clinch the doubles point with a 7-5 triumph.

The Anteaters kept the momentum in singles where they did not drop a set. At No. 2,
Noah Zamora made quick work of Elyes Marouani, 6-2, 6-1, for his fourth-straight win.

Nguyen followed suit, taking down Kruger, 6-2, 6-4, at the third position.
Rahul Dhokia then upended Savio on court six to secure the team victory.

Sakagawa, who was playing his first match at the top of the lineup, defeated Tristan Sarap, 6-4, 6-1.
Ali Amiri and
Lawee Sherif both won a second-set tiebreaker to complete the sweep. Amiri outlasted Minh, 6-0, 7-6 (6) at No. 5, while Sherif pulled out a 6-1, 7-6 (5) victory over Zulch at No. 4.

UC Irvine continues a four-match homestand next week against Case Western (March 12) and Columbia (March 15).
