SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- UC Irvine finished eighth at the 45th Annual Aztec Invitational highlighted by Jabob Hawkins' win in the discus at Choc Sportsman/Aztrack on the SDSU Sports Deck Saturday.
The Anteaters scored 30 points on the strength of performances in the discus and shot put.
Hawkins, the reigning Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week, won the discus with a throw of 53.76 (176-4). Justin Willingham was fourth with a toss of 47.65 (156-4) and Chimobi Onye was eighth at 44.34 (145-5).
Willingham was second in the shot put with a throw of 17.93m (57-10.25) followed by Hawkins in third place at 16.75, (54-11.5).
UCI will host the Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic next Friday and Saturday (Mar. 29-30) at Anteater Stadium.
