Robinson Claims Heptathlon Title at UCR Spring Classic

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Junior Jolie Robinson won the UCR Spring Classic Multis heptathlon Friday at the UC Riverside Track & Field Facility.
Robinson climbed two spots in the standings over the final three events to finish ahead of the pack with 5,213 points. She had the top mark in the javelin with a toss of 41.38 meters (135-9). Robinson started the day with a third-place showing in the long jump at 5.61 meters (18-5), and closed out the two-day meet by clocking an 800m time of 2:29.61.
Junior Jazzmine Davis was third overall with a personal-record 4,877 points, which ranks 10th in program history. In the seventh and final event of the meet, Davis shattered her 800m personal best with a time of 2:28.71. She also registered a season-best 5.36m (17-7) in the long jump and placed among the top-five in the javelin (32.66m/107-2).
Seniors Chaselyn Amos (4,232) and Laura Sangiacomo (4,150) were seventh and 10th, respectively. Amos established season bests in the long jump (5.21m) and javelin (26.31m), while Sangiacomo added a season-best 32.96m (108-1) in the javelin. Sangiacomo's point total is a personal record.
UC Irvine will have a handful of student-athletes in action tomorrow at the Aztec Invitational. The Anteaters then make their home debut next weekend, hosting the Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic, March 29-30.

Sophomore DeAna Davis was fourth with a toss of 53.16 meters (174-5). She was just shy of her lifetime best of 53.32m which she established at the Beach Opener.
Senior Deandra Tyler was also sixth at 50.01m (164-1).
