'Eaters Slated For Friday Afternoon Match With Dartmouth

IRVINE, Calif.— The Anteaters host Ivy League opponent Dartmouth on Friday Mar. 15 at the Anteater Tennis Stadium for a 3 p.m. start.

  • UC Irvine heads into the match with a 4-9 overall record and 1-3 in Big West play
  • UCI dropped a close road trip to UC San Diego last Saturday (Mar. 9), 4-3, in a three and a half hour match
  • The Anteaters debuted a new doubles lineup against the Tritons

    • Senior Emily Fowler and junior Kayla Meraz debuted together at No. 1 where they grabbed the 6-3 victory
    • The pairing of Carolyna Fowler and Asha Gidwani clinched the doubles point on court two with their hard fought 6-4 win.
    • UCSD recorded their first point of the match at No. 3 singles before Haily Huynh kept the Anteaters ahead, 2-1, with her 7-5, 6-1 victory on court five.
    • The Tritons then went on to score two more at No. 6 and No. 4 in close matches. Jenna Schlatter battled in a three-set contest, earning her points on the bookends of the game (6-0, 3-6, 6-4).
  • UC Irvine is down 1-2 in the all-time series with the Big Green and have not met since the 2016 season

Scouting Dartmouth
Dartmouth enters the match with a 4-5 record and face the Anteaters in their first of four matches on the West Coast. The Big Green have not seen action on the court since Mar. 2 when they dropped 5-2 to UMass.

Lexi Dewire holds a team best 5-3 record in individual play with all five victories recorded at the No. 2 spot. Peyton Capuano, Caroline Lemcke, and Michela Moore all have four wins in singles action.
 
Capuano and Moore carry four wins as doubles partners as well. The duo holds a 4-3 record on the season and have earned all four wins at the No. 2 position.
