Box Score LA JOLLA, Calif. – No. 6 UC Irvine took down Big West opponent No. 16 UC Davis, 11-8, in the final game of the Triton Invitational.
 
With the victory, the Anteaters finished in seventh place at the tournament.

• Freshman Annabelle Mundelius was the only UCI player to score multiple goals with two
• Sophomore Maja Layden has scored in three straight games
• Senior Sabina Shackelford recorded her first goal of the season

SCORING BREAKDOWN

• First period: Both No. 6 UC Irvine and No. 16 UC Davis came out ready to go, playing great defense. The Anteaters got on the board by way of an Airian Grisham goal, but was not enough as the Aggies went ahead, 2-1.

• Second period: The 'Eaters continued to work on the offensive end while playing tough defense. A trio of goals from UCI is what they needed to take the 4-3 advantage into the half.

• Third period: Worn out by the constant attack from the UCI offense, the UC Davis defense saw a collapse that let the Anteaters to keep building on their lead to head into the final eight minutes of action leading 8-4.
  • Hourigan (1), Layden (1), Mundelius (1), and Shackelford (1)
• Fourth period: The Aggies kicked it into high gear in the final stanza depositing four goals of their own. Despite their efforts, UCI added three scores to come away with the 11-8 victory.
