Box Score PALO ALTO, Calif. – No. 7 UC Irvine upended No. 5 Stanford 3-1 (28-26, 22-25, 25-19, 25-19) at Burnham Pavilion and Ford Center Friday night.
 
Outside hitter Hilir Henno put away a match-high 23 kills, hitting .422 (23-4-45).  The junior recorded three aces, seven digs and a match-best five total blocks. It was his third 20+ kill performance of the season.
 
Middle blocker Connor Campbell had a stellar night, hitting .818, which is tied for the 11^th best hitting percentage in the country in up to 14 attempts. He logged nine kills in 11 attempts without an error.  He also totaled three block assists.
 
Outside hitter William D'Arcy had a career-best 10 kills in his second consecutive start. He added five digs and a block assist.
 
The Anteaters (7-4) held an 8-3 ace advantage and out-hit the Cardinal .368 to .276.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Outside hitter Akhil Tangutur tied his season-high with six kills, while posting a season-high seven digs
>Libero Cole Power had a match-high 10 digs
>Setter Brett Sheward had a career-high three aces to go with 48 set assists and four digs
>Maxim Grigoriev slid to the middle and totaled eight kills, hitting .400 (8-2-15) and three block assists

FIRST SET

>A Cardinal service error and a block by Maxim Grigoriev and William D'Arcy closed the margin to 15-18
>A kill by Campbell and two by Henno inched UCI closer, 20-21
>A kill by Henno, a kill by Grigoriev and a solo block by Henno put UCI in front 23-22
>A kill by D'Arcy was followed by Campbell kill in the middle for the 28-26 victory

>Stanford would take a 12-10 lead only to watch Henno put down two kills to tie it again, 12-12
>A kill by Grigoriev and a Stanford attack error moved UCI in front 15-14
>Stanford would use a UCI service error and a kill to take a 23-21 lead and go on to take the set 25-22

THIRD SET
>Stanford led early 4-1
>UCI scored six in a row, capped by a Henno ace to take control, 9-5
>A kill by Henno was followed by a Stanford attack error and a Campbell ace putting UCI ahead 15-10
>An ace by Sheward increased the lead to 17-12
>Stanford would creep within 19-17 but UCI would score the next two to stop the momentum
>The Anteaters would score the final three points, two on Henno kills including the set winner, 25-19

FOURTH SET
>Three straight kills by Akhil Tangutur gave UCI a 9-7 lead
>An ace by Tangutur extended the advantage to 12-9
>Three consecutive Cardinal errors gave the Anteaters a 16-11 lead
>A Grigoriev kill ended the set and match, 25-19
 
NOTES
>Henno recorded three aces and has 158 in his career. He is three shy of matching Michael Saeta for second all-time in UCI aces
>The Anteaters held a slight 7-6 advantage in blocks, the seventh time UCI has out-blocked its opponent this season
>It's the second time this season Campbell has hit over .700
