IRVINE, Calif.— UCI treks up to Northern California for three matches: Jessup (Feb. 16), Sacramento State (Feb. 17), and UC Davis (Feb. 18).
Notes
- UC Irvine enters the weekend with an 1-3 overall record
- UCI split the week (1-1), defeated UC Riverside 6-1 for their first win of the season before dropping 4-3 to Santa Clara
- Sophomore Amanda Perez went a perfect 1-0 in doubles play and 2-0 in singles, both at the No. 3 position over the two matches
- Due to a last-minute lineup change, Perez played with a new partner, Haily Huynh, in the doubles match against UC Riverside and the sophomore duo went on to fight for the 7-5 in their match to clinch the overall doubles point
- Perez had the first individual win for the 'Eaters at the No. 3 spot against the Broncos where she reeled off three games to win the second set and overall point
- Kayla Meraz went 2-0 in singles action at the No. 2 position, taking down her opponents 6-3, 7-6 (7-0) and 6-4, 6-4
- The duo of Carolyna Fowler/Emily Fowler worked quick to sweep their opposition, 6-0, to take the point lead for the doubles portion of the match against the Highlanders
- Huynh and Jenna Schlatter earned their first singles victories of the year in the Big West win over UCR in the No. 4 and No. 1 spots, respectively
- C. Fowler stepped into the No. 6 singles spot this week where she topped her opposition from Santa Clara, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1
- UCI and Jessup faced off for the first time last season where the Anteaters won, 7-0
- The 'Eaters hold the slight 8-7 series advantage over Sacramento State and last met in 2023
- UC Irvine has a 14-8 lead in the all-time series with UC Davis, but have dropped four straight to the Aggies
Scouting Jessup
Jessup is 2-2 entering the contest and have only played on their home court one time during their countable matches. The Warriors picked up their two wins in the fall against the University of Puget Sound (W, 8-1) and Willamette University (W, 9-0). Friday's matchup will serve as a scrimmage for Jessup.
Jessica Holbea is 3-0 in singles action for the Warriors, picking up two wins at No. 1 and one win at No. 2. Holbea partners with Katlyn Perry in doubles play where they hold a 2-0 record at the No. 3 spot.

Scouting Sacramento State
Sacramento State is 4-3 to start the season and most recently defeated Nevada (W, 5-2) and Jessup (W, 7-0) this past Saturday. The Hornets other wins have come against Hawai'i Pacific (W, 5-2) and San Francisco (W, 4-0).
Redshirt freshman Lou Baudouin looks to keep her perfect 7-0 record in dual matches intact. Baudouin has one win at No. 2, one at No. 4, three at No. 5, and two at No. 6. At No. 3 doubles, Best Lee and Grace McSkimming are 2-0 on the year.

Scouting UC Davis
UC Davis holds a 2-6 overall record, 0-2 in the Big West heading into the weekend. The Aggies two victories occurred on Jan. 27 against San Francisco (W, 5-2) and Jessup (W, 7-0). UCD dropped 6-1 to both UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly on their first league road trip.
