Smith; MacDonald Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – Outside hitters Katie Smith and Kendra MacDonald were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2024 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball team, announced Tuesday.

The CSC academic awards program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

The academic qualifications for the distinction are a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games this season and should be a starter or important reserve on the court.

Smith led the Big West in ace average (0.40) and was 12th in kills per set (2.88) and 10th in points (3.66). The graduate student recorded kills in double-figures 18 times including a career-high 20 versus Portland.

MacDonald averaged 2.41 kills and 1.81 digs per set in 2024. The junior came on strong at the end of the season, averaged 12.10 kills over the final 10 matches and recorded a career-best 20 kills, while hitting .576 (20-1-33) at CSUN.
