Anteaters Win Five Matches on Day 2 of LMU Invitational

LOS ANGELES -
UC Irvine men's tennis won five matches on the second day of the LMU Invitational Saturday at LMU Tennis Center.
 
The Anteaters started the afternoon with doubles against the host Lions. Sohrob Amiryavari and Lawee Sherif teamed up to defeat Jacopo Denitto/Inigo Diaz, 8-4. The freshman pairing of Mason Bui and Ruining Huang also took down Sascha Nothdurft/Darius Tamaddon, 8-6.
 
The 'Eaters then took to the courts for singles play vs. Denver. The two teams split the six matches with Bui, Huang and Max Fardanesh all picking up a victory for UCI. Bui won in straight sets as he upended Relja Eskic, 7-5, 7-6.
 
Huang and Fardanesh were both dominant after a first-set loss. Huang came storming back for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Connor Robb-Wilcox. Fardanesh saw a similar result, toppling Theo Coats, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1.
 
UC Irvine will close out the LMU Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 10, with doubles against Utah and singles against LMU.
