Big West Honors Anteater Trio

IRVINE, Calif. -- UC Irvine libero Campbell Jensen was named second-team All-Big West, while graduate students Katie Smith and Hunter Riedl were honorable mention selections as voted on by Big West Coaches.

Jensen, who was an honorable mention choice in 2023, ranks sixth in the Big West in dig average at 3.74 and third in digs overall with 438. Against Big West opponents, the junior ranked third with a 3.93 mark. Jensen recorded double-digit digs 26 times this season, including recording 32 at UC San Diego which is tied for second most in the conference. She was named Big West Defensive Player of the Week after her performance against the Tritons. She is eighth in UCI career-digs with 1,127.

Jensen is second on the team with 33 aces, including firing a career-high five versus Long Beach State.

Smith leads the Anteaters and is 12th among Big West players in kills with a 2.88 average, is second in aces at 0.38 and 10th in points with a 3.63 mark. She recorded kills in double figures 17 times this season, including a career-best 20 kills versus Portland.

The outside hitter has 44 aces, the most by a Big West player this season. She has recorded four aces on three occasions and had at least one ace in seven of the last eight matches.

Riedl was selected to the honorable mention squad for the second consecutive year.

She ranks 15th among Big West players in kills (2.61) and points (3.12).  The opposite has recorded double-digit kills15 times this season. The graduate student pounded a season-high 21 kills in the win at Hawaii and recorded a career-best six block assists versus Colorado.

UCI begins the Big West Championship tomorrow (Nov. 27) at 6:00 p.m. against UC Davis at the Bren Events Center.
