
UCI Wraps up Action at NCAA West Regional

COLFAX, Wash. - The UC Irvine women's cross country team competed at the NCAA West Regional Championships Friday at Colfax Golf Club.
The Anteaters were 22nd with 585 points. No. 2 Oregon took home the team title, while runner-up Stanford's Amy Bunnage was the individual champion at 19:17.1. The top two teams from each regional earn an at-large selection to the NCAA Championships.
Sophomore Kaia Schmidt completed the 6K course in 21:04.2 to lead the 'Eaters with a 73rd-place finish. Senior Malia Gay was also 81st at 21:14.5.
Senior Maggie Sczupak was next across the line for UCI with a time of 22:03.7. She was followed by freshman Cynthia Herrera (22:08.4), freshman Daisy Penney (22:10.3) and junior Makena Castillo (22:36.4).
