Zamora Claims Runner-up Honors at ITA Southwest Regional
October 22, 2024 | Men's Tennis
TEMPE, Ariz. - Senior Noah Zamora closed out the ITA Southwest Regional Championships with a runner-up finish Tuesday at Kiwanis Tennis Center.
As an ITA Regional finalist, Zamora qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship at Baylor, Nov. 19-24. This is the first year the singles and doubles championships will be held in the fall instead of after the NCAA team championship in the spring. Zamora is the Anteaters' first NCAA singles qualifier since 2011.
In Tuesday's ITA Southwest Regional final, Zamora came up short against second-seeded and 55th-ranked Spencer Johnson of UCLA, 6-2, 6-3. The San Diego native had dropped only one set through his first five matches of the tournament.
