IRVINE, Calif. - As UC Irvine men's golf gears up for its season-opening tournament next week, Anteater freshman
Tommy Lin is in Japan for the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, Oct. 3-6, at Taiheiyo Club Gotemba.

The tournament is the premier amateur golf championship in the Asia-Pacific region with the winner earning an invitation to the 2025 Masters Tournament and an exemption into The 2025 Open.

Lin qualified for this week's event as the fourth-ranked amateur golfer in Hong Kong. He is 436th overall in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). Lin recently won the Gionee Series - 4 in June and took first at the 2023 Hong Kong Close & Mid Amateur Championship.

The 72-hole tournament is set to get underway on Thursday, Oct. 3. A cut will be made after 36 holes for the leading 60 players plus ties.
