UC Irvine Posts Seven Personal Records at Highlander Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's cross country team finished fifth at the Highlander Invitational Saturday morning.
Eleven Anteaters ran either a personal record or season best in the 6K at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course, which is the host site of the 2024 Big West Championship in two weeks.
Freshman Liana Lee led UCI as she clocked a PR 21:40.9 to place 26th in a field of 256 athletes. Senior Montgomery Allison wasn't far behind in 30th with a season-best 21:47.7.
Freshman Rachel Moen was next across the line in a lifetime-best 21:57.7 (35th), while sophomore Marjourie Lopez notched a season-best 22:22.1.
Senior Olivia Liuson rounded out UCI's top-five scorers with a season-best 22:33.3. Freshman Anna Soares also came in at 22:52.8 and junior Stella Knobbe ran a season-best 23:07.9.
Also registering lifetime bests were sophomore Kaitlene Ofilan (23:13.3), freshman Danielle Brotcke (23:26.3), senior Laura Yontz (23:31.2), freshman Breckyn Kornachuk (23:44.2) and junior Elizabeth Melcher (25:34.1).
San Diego State won the team title, while UC San Diego's Sylvana Northrop was the individual champion at 20:27.7.
The Anteaters return to the UCR Ag Ops Course on Saturday, Nov. 2, for the Big West Championship. The women's 6K race is scheduled for a 9:15 a.m. start.
