IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's golf has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
"We have put together a balanced schedule with some events that give our players a chance to win tournaments and also to compete against some of the best college teams in the country," said 26th-year head coach Paul Smolinski. "We are excited to compete in the University of Hawai'i's inaugural Kapolei Classic on O'ahu, and to host an event at Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point. We will again wrap up our regular season with the televised Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club before heading to La Quinta Country Club for the Big West Championships."
The Anteaters have a familiar 2023 fall slate as they are set to open the season at the Nick Watney Invitational (Sept. 25-26) in Fresno for the sixth time in the last seven years. UCI then heads to The Oaks Club at Valencia for its 11th consecutive appearance in the Bill Cullum Invitational (Oct. 9-10).
The 'Eaters are right back in action the following week, traveling north for the Visit Stockton Invitational, Oct. 16-18. UC Irvine will have a week off before closing out the fall campaign with a trip to Honolulu for the Kapolei Classic, Oct. 31-Nov. 2.
The Anteaters kick off the spring portion of their schedule, Feb. 6-8, when they make their way to Palm Desert, California, for the Wyoming Match Play tournament. They then return home to co-host the fifth annual Orange County Collegiate Classic, Feb. 12-13. After being held at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club in each of the last four years, the 2024 edition will be played at Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point.
UCI returns to the Classic Club in Palm Desert for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Feb. 20-22. The 'Eaters will then play just one tournament over the next five weeks as they head to renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course for the UCSD Invitational, March 25-26.
UC Irvine amps up the competition in April with the Wyoming Cowboy Classic (April 1-2) in Maricopa, Arizona, and the prestigious Western Intercollegiate (April 15-17) in Santa Cruz. That will be the Anteaters' final tune-up before the Big West Championships (April 28-30), which will be contested at La Quinta Country Club for the fourth year in a row.
The conference champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals which are slated for May 13-15, while the NCAA Championships are set to take place at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, May 24-29.
