Seventy-Three Anteaters Named to Big West Spring All-Academic Team

IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine had 73 student-athletes named to the 2023 Big West Spring All-Academic Team the conference office announced Thursday afternoon.
Each of the Anteaters' nine spring sports had at least two representatives on the all-academic list. Women's track & field led the way with a program-record 23 selections.
Women's water polo added 13 honorees and baseball saw 11 of its student-athletes earn all-academic recognition. Men's track & field was next with nine, while men's volleyball had six. Men's tennis (4), women's golf (3), men's golf (2) and women's tennis (2) also had multiple award winners.
To be eligible for the Big West All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, complete one full year at their member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received and compete in at least 50% of their team's contests. Baseball pitchers are exempt from any minimum participation requirements, while track & field student-athletes must have competed in either 50% of their team's regular-season meets or participated in the Big West Championships.
