Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UCI picked up their first conference win of the season at UC Riverside, downing the Highlanders 6-1.
 
The Anteaters earned five of their points in singles competition and took two victories in doubles.
 
At the No. 1 spot, Jenna Schlatter stayed ahead to win 6-1, twice, in straight sets. Fellow team captain Alyssia Fossorier assumed the No. 2 position, sweeping her opponent 6-0 in the first set and dealt with a 6-3 battle in the second.
 
In the No. 3 position, Asha Gidwani won easily in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-2. Gidwani improves to 10-2 in singles competition, 3-1 in Big West play, and 8-1 at No. 3. The freshman is hot as she has won four consecutive individual contests.
 
Haily Huynh eased to the quick 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 while Larissa Teramura was able to pull out the 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 after outpacing the tough opponent in the second set.
 
The sister chemistry was alive today as the duo of Carolyna Fowler and Emily Fowler earned their first conference win in doubles play defeating their opponent 6-3.

Continuing their winning ways at No. 3 doubles, the duo of Gidwani and Amanda Perez swept the match 6-0 to record their sixth straight doubles victory. The freshmen pairing hold a 9-2 record this season and 8-2 at the third spot.
 
"We played a great match today against UC Riverside, really taking advantage of the opportunities given to us and we really dictated the points today," said assistant coach Benjamin Cook. "Jenna, Alyssia, and Haily played lights out tennis and Asha, Larissa, and Amanda had battles that pushed us. Overall, our team did very well and we are growing with each match."
