UCI Falls To Hawai'i To Close Out The Regular Season

Box Score IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine was blanked by Hawaii, 4-0, on Sunday morning to close out the regular season slate.

The match was played clinch clinch as the Rainbow Wahine won the regular season title yesterday.

Hawai'i handily took the point in doubles action, earning the 6-2 and 6-1 wins at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

Larissa Teramura was the only Anteater to take a set from the opposition, earning the 6-3 victory in set one in No. 6 singles. The second game was tied 3-3 before Hawai'i had clinched the match.

"We played an amazing match against Hawaii and everyone's energy was amazing from start to the end," said assistant coach Benjamin Cook. "Everyone was trying to play their game but also try a couple new things too to try and create more opportunities."

"In the end, Hawai'i proved to be tough and resilient, and we ended up coming short. We can see the progress we're making every day and we're excited for Big West Tournament this week!"

No. 8 seeded UCI will begin the Big West Championships on Wednesday, April 26th at 12 p.m. with their play in match against No. 9 seed UC Riverside.
