
'Eaters Set Three More Top-10 Marks on Friday

AZUSA & LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's track & field team established three marks that rank among the top-10 in school history Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational.
In Azusa, Alexis Alexander led the 'Eaters with a personal-record 2:09.28 in the 800m Invite. Alexander cracked UCI's all-time top-10, coming in at No. 8. Malia Gay also won the 800m Open in a lifetime-best 2:09.37 to rank ninth in school history. Anna Vogtmann closed out the evening with her first 5000m of the season, clocking in at 16:36.07. Vogtmann was a few seconds off her PR 16:32.93, which is second among the program's all-time leaders.
Over in Long Beach, Deandra Tyler started the Beach Invitational with a personal record in the hammer throw. Tyler unleashed a toss of 175-04 on her third attempt in Flight 2. She moved up one spot to No. 6 among the Anteaters' top-10.
Laura Yontz (11:50.61) also competed in the steeplechase at the Beach Invitational, while Chaselyn Amos (3,963) and Laura Sangiacomo (3,762) concluded Group D of the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
UCI will close out action at both meets tomorrow.
