PALO ALTO, Calif. – No. 6 UC Irvine swept No. 10 Stanford in a non-conference tilt at Maples Pavilion Saturday afternoon.
The Anteaters won on the strength of nine aces, a .357 hitting percentage (40-10-84) and an 8.5 to 3 block advantage.
UCI goes to 10-5 overall while Stanford is 9-8 on the year.

Francesco Sani led UCI, hitting .545 with 13 kills on 22 attempts and just one error. He shared the team lead in digs with
Hilir Henno at seven and totaled two aces

>A Karlous kill and an ace by Gillis tied the score at 4-4
>A kill by Sani was followed by a block by D. Dahm and Karlous, 6-5
>A kill by Sani was followed by back-to-back aces by Henno, 11-8
>Stanford would out-score UCI 4-1 to knot the set at 14-14
>A UCI service error and a kill gave Stanford the 18-17 lead

>Henno already holds the UCI record for aces in a match with 8 against Pepperdine, but his six tonight is tied for third most. The sophomore now has 44 this season which is tied for ninth most in a season at UCI
>Sani extended his ace streak to 12 straight matches
>As a team, UCI has recorded six or more aces in each of the last eight matches
