OFF THE TEE
UC Irvine kicks off the spring season at the Valley Invitational Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 6-7) at the Bakersfield Country Club.
Teams will play two rounds Monday beginning with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start followed by 18 holes Tuesday starting at 8:00 a.m.
The tournament field includes C
al State Fullerton, CSUN, Cal State San Marcos, Grand Canyon, Fresno State, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, UC Davis, UC Riverside, San Francisco, Utah Tech and host Roadrunners. USC individuals will also compete.
Megan Yang,
Charlotte Ryoo,
Nicole Zhang,
Jasmine Chen and
Kiana Briggs will compete for the Anteaters.
At last year's event, the Anteaters ended in ninth place with a three-round score of 940 (306-317-317).
IN THE CLUBHOUSE
UCI had its best finish of the Fall season at the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic where the team finished eighth and
Megan Yang fired a 66 on the final round.
Yang finished second, carding seven birdies on the final round to end with a 66, one shy of her own school record of 65 set in 2021. Â Yang tied her career-best with a second place finish after a three-round total of 206 (69-71-66), the second best 54-hole score in program history. She recorded 14 birdies and two eagles over the three rounds.
The Anteaters had a season-best round of 290 at The Clash at Boulder Creek. Freshman
Jasmine Chen led UCI with a score of 218 (75-68-75), including a career-best 68 on the second round.
