SPOKANE, Wash. - The UC Irvine women's indoor track & field team closed out the MPSF Championships with two podium finishes Saturday in Spokane, Washington.

Sameen Andar highlighted the afternoon, claiming runner-up honors and setting a school record in the 3000m. Andar clocked in at 9:39.12 to top Laura Olvera's 15-year-old standard of 9:46.35. Graduate student
Evelin Meza also had a season-best 10:01.84 to rank fourth in program history.

Deandra Tyler added a third-place showing in the shot put with a toss of 48-09.5.

Emma McCarthy took fourth in the 800m, crossing the finish line in 2:12.33, just .23 seconds off her lifetime best. Sophomore
Alexis Alexander was also sixth with a personal-record 2:12.95. Alexander took over sole possession of third on UCI's all-time charts.

Reyna Johnson placed sixth in the 60m hurdles final (8.91).

Malia Gay paced five 'Eaters in the mile with a personal-best 5:00.71 (11th). She moved up two spots to No. 5 in program history. Graduate student
Hannah Chau was also 12th in a PR 5:01.39, which ranks seventh among UC Irvine's all-time leaders. Junior
Cathy Salazar-Gasca added a top-15 showing with a season-best 5:05.01.

The Anteaters had a pair of freshmen compete in the 400m.
Lauren Aquino took 15th overall at 58.23, while
Sienna Frederiksen was 16th with a personal-best 58.33.
Amari Fraser, McCarthy, Frederiksen and Alexander wrapped up the meet in the 4x400 relay where the quartet came in sixth (3:54.95) to add three points to UCI's total score.

UC Irvine saw an improvement in its team finish from a year ago as it placed sixth overall (46 points). No. 23 BYU defended its MPSF title with 170.5 points.
