
UCI Earns Seven Wins on Final Day of LMU Invite

LOS ANGELES - The UC Irvine men's tennis team closed out the LMU Invite by going 5-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles Sunday at LMU Tennis Center.
Over the course of the weekend, the Anteaters combined for a 14-3 singles record against host Loyola Marymount, reigning Summit League champion Denver and Pac-12 member Utah, which advanced to the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
On Sunday, the 'Eaters squared off against LMU in singles. Rithvik Krishna defeated Arthur Pantino 6-3, 7-5 to close out the three-day tournament with a 3-0 record.
Andy Nguyen also wrapped up a perfect 3-0 weekend without dropping a set after dispatching Inigo Diaz, 6-2, 6-1. Lawee Sherif came from behind to upend Nicolas Pesoli, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3, for his third win of the tournament.
Noah Zamora added his second consecutive straight-set win, taking down Yassine Smiej, 6-4, 6-4.
Matthew Sah made his first appearance in the singles lineup this weekend and came away with an impressive 6-4, 6-4 triumph.
In doubles, the Anteaters took two of three from the Utes. Sherif and Zamora dispatched Jayson Blando/Michael Blando, 6-2, at No. 1. Ali Amiri and Krishna also teamed up for a 6-2 victory against Gianluca Citadini/Geremia Ross at the third position.
