Men's Tennis Competes in ITA Southwest Regional Back Draw

MALIBU, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team wrapped up its stay at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships with five consolation singles matches Saturday at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
Rithvik Krishna earned his second straight-set win in the back draw, defeating Pac-12 opponent Sasha Rozen of Arizona, 6-2, 7-6 (4). Lawee Sherif also outlasted Loyola Marymount's Toky Nicolas Ranaivo 6-3, 3-6, 10-8.
Hiroki Sakagawa won by a walkover, while Noah Zamora dropped a tightly-contested 3-6, 7-6 (6), 10-7 match to the Lions' Craig Arthur Pantino. Ali Amiri also fell to Fernando Fonseca of Cal Poly, 6-3, 6-4.
The Anteaters have two fall tournaments remaining on their schedule with the So Cal Intercollegiate Championships (Oct. 26-Oct. 29) and the LMU Invitational (Nov. 10-12).
