MALIBU, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team continued action at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles Friday at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
Â
Brandon Park and
Noah Zamora started the morning by cruising to an 8-2 victory over Wyatt Anderson/Paolo Rosati of Grand Canyon in the Round of 32. The Anteaters didn't have much of a break in between matches as they were right back on the court to take on Arizona's Inaki Cabrera-Bello/Gustaf Strom for a spot in Saturday's quarterfinal. Park/Zamora put forth a good fight but ended up falling, 8-4. It was the second Pac-12 team they faced in the tournament as they defeated UCLA in yesterday's opening round.
Â
Rithvik Krishna and
Andy Nguyen were edged by USC's Wojtek Marek/Samuel Rubell, 8-6, in the Round of 32, while
Matthew Sah and
Hiroki Sakagawa also dropped an 8-4 decision to Loyola Marymount's Inigo Diaz/Darius Tamaddon.
Â
Three 'Eaters were playing in today's singles Round of 32.
Enrique Luque Rico got out to a quick start, taking the first set against 98th-ranked Oliver Tarvet (San Diego), 6-3. Tarvet was able to recover, however, as he came back to defeat Luque Rico, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Â
Sakagawa fell to 87th-ranked Jay Friend of Arizona, 6-3, 6-3, while
Ali Amiri, who upset No. 53 Noah Berry of Cal Poly on Thursday, saw his run come to an end against San Diego's Neo Niedner, 6-2, 6-1.
Â
In the consolation round of 32, Krishna dispatched Max Wuelfing of Loyola Marymount, 6-4, 6-0. Park also advanced in the back draw via walkover.

The ITA Southwest Regional Championships will resume on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Pepperdine's Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
