BUDAPEST, Hungary --- For the first time in program history, an Anteater will join the U.S. National Team at the prestigious FINA World Championships taking place in Budapest, Hungary in 2022 with
Tara Prentice set to compete in matches that begin Monday, June 20.
Prentice trained with Team USA earlier in June along with teammate
Elena Flynn after an historic season with the Anteater setting program and Big West career scoring mark while collecting Big West Player of the Year and All-American honors. Prentice's inclusion with the national team at the FINA World Championships is a first in UC Irvine history. Alums Danielle Warde and Mary Brooks competed with the team in the past at the FINA World Super League Finals as Anteaters playing for Team USA.
The 2022 Championships kicked off on Friday with the water polo tournament starting Monday, June 20, with the U.S. kicking it all off at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time vs. South Africa. Fans can follow Prentice and all of USA's matchups below as they play for the next two weeks in search of a championship title.
