DAVIS, Calif. - Senior
Noah Holm claimed the shot put title to lead the UC Irvine men's track & field team at the Big West Championships Friday at UC Davis.

Holm won the shot put with a toss of 58-08.5, which was just a quarter of an inch off his lifetime best. After entering the finals in second behind Long Beach State's Charlie Vernoy, Holm took over the lead on his fifth attempt at 55-06.25, then topped that mark on his final throw. It was his eighth shot put victory of the season.
Quincy Stokes also notched a personal-record 52-08.25 to come in fifth, while 2021 Big West champion
Kyle Tsu placed sixth (52-08), giving the Anteaters 17 points in the event.

Freshman
Liam Miksic got the 'Eaters on the board in the first men's event of the day. In his Big West Championship debut, Miksic placed third in the javelin with a personal-record 209-05, improving on his No. 2 mark in program history.

Josh Farmer and senior
Seth Enochs both scored in the long jump. Farmer climbed five spots in the standings on his final attempt, finishing fourth overall at 23-09.5. Enochs, who has scored in all four of his Big West appearances, took seventh at 23-04.5.

On the track,
Cameron Smith picked up four points in the steeplechase as he crossed the finish line in fifth (9:11.44).

Drew Pickett had the top time in the 110m hurdle prelims at 14.35 seconds, while Farmer had a qualifying mark of 14.97. Both Pickett and Farmer advance to tomorrow's final.

Senior
Miles Duncan won his heat in the 800m prelims to automatically qualify for the conference final for the second year in a row. He finished with a time of 1:51.77.

Eric Parker narrowly missed out on advancing out of the 400m prelims as he placed ninth overall (48.94). Pickett was also ninth in the 400m hurdles (56.80), while junior
Malcolm Overbaugh was 10th in the 200m (21.92).

Lukas Amare took 10th in his first career 10K (31:42.83).
