CHANDLER, Ariz. - UC Irvine men's golf was moving up the team leaderboard at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic when Monday's second round was suspended due to darkness.
The Anteaters carded a first-round 292 to tie for 17th, but climbed five spots in the standings before play was halted.
Henry Fitzhugh led UCI through the first 18 holes as he matched his season-best at 1-under 71 to tie for 26th. Darien Zhao and Nathan Irwin also tied for 56th at 1-over 73.
Johnny Bai, who had a team-high five birdies in the opening round, was 86th at 3-over 75, and Kolbe Irei rounded out the 'Eater lineup with a 78.
Zhao is leading the way in the second round as he is 4-under with two holes remaining. Irei, Fitzhugh and Bai are also sitting at even-par with a couple holes left to play.
San Diego State closed out the day in first at 24-under, while Long Beach State's Isaac Rodea holds a two-stroke advantage on the individual field.
The 'Eaters will return to The Cattail Course at Whirlwind Golf Club tomorrow for the completion of Round 2, followed immediately by the final round.
