SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's tennis fell 4-0 Thursday morning at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego ending its Big West Championship run and 2022 season to top-seeded UC Santa Barbara.
Doubles went all UC Santa Barbara giving up three points total winning at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles for the opening point and 1-0 lead.
Singles saw the Gauchos take the first three points clinching the match with straight-set wins at Nos. 3, 4, and 6 singles for the 4-0 win.
Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico took the opening set at No. 1 singles against No. 86 Shakhnoza Khatamova with their match ending unfinished in the third set in addition to unfinished matches for
Jessica Tsukiji at No. 2 singles and
Dasee Carter at No. 5 singles.
UC Irvine's Big West Tournament run ends in the quarterfinals after winning the opening-round match against UC Riverside. The 'Eaters finish 2022 with a 9-16 overall record.
