UCI Remains in 12th After Second Round at Pasatiempo

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -
The UC Irvine men's golf team remained in 12th place following the second round of the 75th Western Intercollegiate Tuesday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.

With the windy conditions causing long delays, play was suspended due to darkness with two members of No. 6 Washington's final group still on the course. They will finish their round Wednesday morning.
 
The Anteaters have combined for a 36-hole, 6-count-5 total of 776 (389-387). They are two strokes ahead of No. 12 Stanford.
 
Ninth-ranked Texas had the best round of the day to take over the lead at 727 (+27). No. 8 Pepperdine dropped to second place as the Waves are four strokes behind the Longhorns.  

Colorado State's Rasmus Hjelm is the only player below par as he sits in first at 1-under 139 (70-69).
 
Kolbe Irei was UCI's top performer in the second round at 4-over 74. It was the team's best 18-hole score of the tournament and moved him up 18 spots into a tie for 41st.
 
Henry Fitzhugh and Matt Gunson are tied for 49th with identical two-round totals of 155 (77-78), while Nathan Irwin is tied for 73rd at 159 (83-76).
 
Johnny Bai (160) and Darien Zhao (164) are also tied for 76th and 86th, respectively.
 
UC Irvine is back at Pasatimepo Golf Club tomorrow for the final round of the Western Intercollegiate with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m.
