IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine's brief three-match win streak ended Sunday in Anteater Tennis Stadium falling 5-2 to Weber State.
The match featured two head coaches that have met before in Weber State head coach RuthAnn Allen who coached UCI head coach
Elizabeth Ferris when they were at the University of Utah.
In doubles, the Anteaters (4-8, 1-2) took an early lead winning the set No. 1, but the Wildcats (7-6, 2-0) came back to the take the point winning 7-5 at No. 2 doubles for a 1-0 lead.
Singles went Weber State's from the start earning three quick points in straight sets for the clinching 4-0 lead.
Dasee Carter got a point back in straight sets winning at No. 5 singles.
Emily Fowler and
Jessica Tsukiji each went to a third set tiebreaker with Fowler winning, 6-3, 5-7, (10-4) for the Anteaters' second point.
UC Irvine now stands at 4-8 on the season dropping the first match of seven straight at home. Next week features one match, another non-conference, hosting Illinois State on Friday, March 11.
