'Eaters Win Two Events in San Diego

The UC Irvine men's track & field team won two of the four events they competed in Saturday at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational.
 
Noah Holm remained unbeaten in the shot put, taking first with a meet-record 57-02.25. It was a lifetime best for Holm, who ranks fifth in program history. Kyle Tsu also came in third with a season-best 54-05.75. Justin Willingham (51-09.75) and Jacob Hawkins (50-04.75) notched personal bests to place fifth and seventh, respectively. Quincy Stokes (49-03) added an eighth-place showing, while Josh Farmer registered a season-best 44-08.25.
 
Willingham finished ahead of the pack in the discus with a personal-record 171-05. He improved on his previous best by six feet. Holm came in third at 168-06, while Tsu (166-06) and Hawkins (162-01) were also among the top-eight.
 
Liam Miksic took fourth out of 30 in the javelin with a toss of 192-06. Farmer also established a lifetime-best 171-00 to come in seventh.
 
On the track, Farmer competed in the 110m hurdles, placing third in 15.14 seconds.
 
The 'Eaters are back in action next week, traveling to the Texas Relays, March 24-26, and UCLA's Bob Larsen Invitational (March 25) and Rafer Johnson/Jacki Joyner-Kersee Invitational (March 26).
