IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team was dominant in singles play to earn a 5-2 victory over Pacific Saturday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The 'Eaters (2-4) won five of their six singles matches, including four in straight sets.

The doubles point went down to the final match. Ali Amiri and Emmanuel Coste were handed their first loss of the season, falling to Peter Alam/Manroop Saini at the second position. Riccardo Roberto and Lawee Sherif then tied it up with a 6-3 win over Aleska Mardjonovic/Coby McCaig at the top of the lineup. The Tigers (0-4) eventually took the early 1-0 lead with a 6-2 triumph at No. 3.

UC Irvine bounced back in singles, starting with Roberto, who took care of business on court two, dispatching Alam, 6-1, 6-1. Mike Mkrtchian followed with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over McCaig at the sixth spot, but UOP's Amar then won in straight sets at No. 4 to even the match at 2-2.

UCI would finish strong, winning the final three matches. Sherif upended Liam Puttergill, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3, before Coste clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 1.

Noah Zamora closed out the day with his first dual-match singles win as he came from behind to top Brandon Park, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 on court five.

UC Irvine will head to Northern California next weekend for matches at San Francisco (Feb. 26) and Santa Clara (Feb. 27).
